Congratulations on your purchase of a Succulent-Plants.com DIY Planter Box Kit! Please carefully remove your succulents from their packaging upon arrival, handling them with care to avoid damaging their leaves. Your succulents can be kept in a bright windowsill and watered weekly until the kit is ready to be used. Upon arrival, we ask that you check to make sure that all listed components are included and not missing or damaged.

  • When ready to start assembling your planter, prepare your workspace on a flat surface and layout your materials.
  • Take the plastic liner out of the wood box planter. Shake any dust or debris out. Using scissors or a knife make 2-3 slits in the bottom of the liner. This will help with drainage and airflow. You can also add a tiny layer of rocks or gravel to the bottom of the liner.
  • Place the liner back in the box and fill it with your cactus soil. You can add a bit of water to the soil to make it easier to plant your succulents, just enough water to dampen not soak the soil.
  • Next prepare your succulents. Give the succulent pots a few little squeezes to release the roots and soil. Slowly and carefully pull your succulent out of its pot. Using your fingers lightly work through the roots to remove excess soil. Some pieces of the roots may fall off, this is normal.
  • It can be helpful to simply place your succulents on top of the soil so you can determine how you wish to arrange them. After you know where each is going, make three little divots in the soil to mark their locations.
  • Take your first succulent and carefully guide its roots into a divot and cover the roots with soil. You can additionally add a few pebbles around the base of your succulent to help support the plant while you add the next two plants. Do this for each succulent.
  • If you did not dampen the soil earlier now would be a good time to give your succulents some water. Remember to water at the base of the plant, not over top of the leaves.
  • Sprinkle the remaining river gravel stone on top of the soil and arrange it around the bases of the succulents.

CARE DIRECTIONS:

  • Be sure to place your wood box container where it can receive plenty of bright sunlight. A few hours or less of direct sunlight.
  • Carefully water your succulents only when the soil and rocks are fully dry. Depending on the sunlight and humidity, your succulents usually are watered once a week or less. Remember to check the soil for dryness before you water and only water when fully dry.
